| The SA Carp Society |
|
The South African Carp Society is a member based organisation with the sole purpose of promoting the sport of Carp Angling in Southern Africa.
The South African Carp Society started out on the 1st of October 2008. Our member base is growing by the day and soon we will have the numbers to demand that our voices be heard.
|
| Why the SA Carp Society? |
|
Carp angling in South Africa faces a lot of challenges which include education, environmental issues, pollution, the biodiversity act, bow fishing, poaching and more... Incidents of poaching and fish deaths related to pollution, reports of bow fishing activities and other activities negatively impacting on our sport are on the increase. It needs to STOP!
The SA Carp Society is committed to play a major role in addressing these issues, whether it is to expose these activities through our existing media alliances, education or assisting organisations during decision processes, the SA Carp Society aims to ensure that our members are represented and our needs communicated where necessary.
|
| What do I get in return? |
|
Apart from having the peace of mind that someone is proactively lobbying for carp angling on your behalf, the SA Carp Society offers members access to exclusive venues in SA.
Some venues just aren't safe to fish anymore. Crime statistics have reached all-time highs at a number of venues. Some lakes are so polluted that you are not even allowed to go in the water. At some our specimen carp fish stocks are being wiped out by commercial netters while others are netted by poachers. At this very moment our future hangs in the balance. BUT, we say NO MORE!!!
The South African Carp Society believes that we must look after ourselves, so we are actively sourcing private venues for our members.

| SACS Member Galleries |
|
The website has two galleries: 1 on the top bar and 1 on the left side bar. The gallery on the top bar contains photos of members updated from the Outdoorpages website and the private gallery on the left bar contains photos sent directly to SACS for publication on the SACS website.
If you want photos of your catches to be displayed on the private gallery, please provide photos of your catches by e-mailing it directly to SACS at members@sacarpsociety.co.za. Kindly also provide info on your catch like the weight of the fish, tactics used (rig & bait), venue (if you want to mention it), date caught, anglers name, etc. You are also welcome to provide a brief description of your session and SACS will post it with the pictures you have sent.
The purpose of the private gallery is to provide you with a gallery that contains with it the experience of your session.

My introduction to Specimen Carp Angling
Just a few months ago I was invited by a young man, Edwin Theron, on a fishing excursion to introduce me to specimen angling. This was at a private dam just outside of Krugersdorp. During this outing I had one fish as a PB of plus minus 8,4kg. En toe byt die gogga my erg!
Through careful selection, advice and reading, I purchased what was needed to comply with the requirements as a specimen angler. A few weeks later I returned to the same private dam, SOLO!!!
