The lake is situated about 50km from Heilbron in the Free State Province only 180km from Johannesburg. It is located on a farm that is part of a lion breeding program.
The dam was built in 1963 and has never been dry. There is currently no lake record as yet as the lake has never been fished intensively before but large carp are showing themselves frequently. Beneath its waters should lurk some huge carp and we want to challenge our members to fish the venue… you could be the first to land a monster carp from it! The last 40km to the dam is a gravel road with some very nice scenery on route. We have made the angling fee very affordable so that you can go fishing while we are busy getting the ablutions and water restored. The lake also has very nice yellow fish and is still an original SA lake without any bass in the dam. There are 4 swims that have been opened up.
The toilets have been cleaned in one of the ablution blocks. There is currently no water to the ablutions at the moment so please take a bucket of water with you to flush it. SACS will be restoring water to the ablutions in the near future.
