The Cliff (SACS Venue)

The Cliff is a prime specimen carp fishing venue situated in the central Free State, about 40 minutes drive from Bloemfontein. This venue has never before been fished specimen style which means the possibilities are endless. Stories of forties and carp in the upper fifties cannot be verified, but keep in mind that this lake was built in 1958. It went through a difficult spell in the seventies, but since then it has never run dry, nor were there any unnatural fishdeaths since then. The stories might just be true.

With no metropolitan area within a radius of 70 kilometres, pollution is unheard of. It is safe and hidden amongst a few scattered hills.

The lake is approximately 900 metres long and 500 metres wide (±45 ha). The deepest sections known to us are just over 6 metres. This lake will in the next few months define the term "Wild Carp".
